Banana Bite is a spin-friendly next-gen co-poly powered by BRE, a pentagonal mold technology proprietary to String-Kong®, in combination with SSP coating technology, providing ridiculous snap-back for spin! The synergy between these two technologies significantly reduces friction between the strings, but it also optimizes comfort and forgiveness, increasing the sweet spot, giving a uniform response across the stringbed, retaining the maximum spin potential of the string longer. Last but not least, it helps to produce a loud and distinct sound at impact.

Some of my customers want to play with no other poly. Strung at low tensions, the comfort is excellent and forgiving if you don´t hit the sweetspot every time

From the baseline:
The Banana Bite needed more than 20 minutes of groundstrokes to break-in. First thing I noticed was that it was low-powered, so I needed full-swings to get the ball landing near my opponent’s baseline. It made a loud and deep sound (no “ping”). On the forehands, it felt a little stiffer than average, but not uncomfortable. The round-shaped edges offered descent ball bite and spin potential. On flats, I was never worried that the ball would sail long and when I used a lively wrist, the ball dropped and kick very well. When the groundstrokes intensity and pace picked-up, I rarely hit the net and even less rarely did the ball sail long. I just had to prepare early so I could take full-swings and produce my own power. Lazy shots would go over the net, but very short. On the backhands, first of all, I tried a few two-handed! The Banana Bite made them easy to execute! On my usual one-handed backhands, I noticed than on flats I could put very much of my own power and land the ball wherever near my opponent’s baseline corners I wanted. I could pick my spots easily. I didn’t manage to hit enough with top-spin, but that’s on me. All slices would stay low and inside the court. I had no issues with those.
At the net:
Finally, got to hit some descent backhand volleys! In general, it played great at the net. On hard incoiming balls, I felt no arm issues and very confident.
Conslucions:
The Banana Bite 1.19/17 is a very good choice for someone who likes a low-powered string, so that he/she can take big and full-swings on the ball without worrying about the ball sailing long. No significant tension loss noticed.
I had it strung at 22kg. I was very satisfied about the way it performed overall. Every hit was very predictable. I will play-test more String-Kong strings in the near future and will post my honest reviews here and also on my Instagram Account:
